Company DescriptionJob Description The mission of the Bureau of Immunization (BOI) is to prevent the occurrence and transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) through comprehensive immunization programs. BOI promotes immunization across the lifespan from infancy through adulthood, works to eliminate disparities in vaccination coverage through data evaluation and support of equitable vaccination services, and actively responds to VPD outbreaks to mitigate their spread and impact on communities. DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: -Provide support for daily operations of the Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention surveillance system reportable disease including case investigations, laboratory data review and standardization, surveillance and case management. -Monitor and assess completeness and timeliness of local laboratory and healthcare provider and facility reporting of hepatitis B in pregnant and post-partum patients. Provide oversight and respond to inter-jurisdiction disease report transferring and data requests. Review reports received through active surveillance methods to determine if reports meet case definitions and should be assigned to staff. -Conduct data cleaning for data stored in the Unit's surveillance and case system, Maven. Ensure data quality, completeness and data entry timeliness. -Contribute to developing features in the Maven system and other software used by the Unit to improve surveillance and case management efficiency and effectiveness; conduct user acceptance testing protocols and record and discuss findings with the Unit and Bureau data teams. -Work closely with the Unit Chief and other Epidemiology staff in the Bureau of Immunization and the Viral Hepatitis Program (VHP) in the Bureau of Hepatitis, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections on activities such as patient referrals to the VHP patient navigation program, requests to identify persons who are lost to follow up, conducting audits on patient lookups in external databases (RHIOs). -May develop and deliver presentations at internal, local, state or national meetings and conferences. -Participate in Public Health emergency responses workflow monitoring and record deduplication. PREFERRED SKILLS: *Experience cleaning and analyzing large datasets using SAS *Experience applying epidemiological methods and conducting infectious disease surveillance case investigations in public health practice *Excellent computer skills in MS Access, MS Excel, and SAS or equivalent *Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills. A master's degree in public health or epidemiology from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 12 graduate credits in epidemiology; or 2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of full-time paid experience as a health professional in a position which requires data collection and the reading and interpretation of medical charts and medical information in support of surveillance and epidemiologic investigations.
