Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech and Language Pathologist to join our team to support students ranging from transitional kindergarten (TK) to age 22 in the school setting. The SLP will conduct Language and Speech evaluations, write reports, prepare for and present findings at IEP meetings. This position also involves providing individual and group services to address students' language and speech needs that impact their education. The SLP will support students in accessing the curriculum and addressing issues related to articulation, fluency, pragmatics, and expressive and receptive language skills. The SLP may also supervise Speech Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) and actively participate in the IEP process.



Pay Rate: $58 - $65 per hour

Location: San Pedro, CA

Schedule: School Operating Hours

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist California License or Credential
  • Experience providing speech-language services to children and adolescents.
  • Experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist in a school setting (minimum 1 year)
  • Strong understanding of speech and language development and disorders.
  • Experience conducting Language and Speech evaluations and writing comprehensive reports.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and Section 504.
  • Understanding of the special education process, including IEP development and implementation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage caseloads, and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and service providers.
  • Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members (educators, school administrators, senior management).
  • Strong oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using technology for documentation and reporting purposes.


Preferred Skills:

  • Fluency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish, is a plus.
  • Experience using SEIS and/or Welligent
  • Certification in conducting Augmentative Alternative Communication assessments



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive language and speech assessments to evaluate students' needs.
  • Write detailed evaluation reports based on assessment findings.
  • Prepare for IEP meetings by compiling necessary assessment data and reports.
  • Input assessment findings and recommendations into the IEP management system.
  • Present assessment findings, progress updates, and recommendations at IEP meetings, clearly communicating results to parents, teachers, and IEP team members.
  • Provide individual and group speech-language therapy services implementing evidence- based techniques to students with diverse needs.
  • Implement therapy activities and strategies to address articulation, fluency, pragmatics, and expressive/receptive language skills.
  • Assist students in accessing the general education curriculum by addressing their speech and language needs.
  • Provide input for developing and updating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on assessment results and ongoing student progress.
  • Plan and conduct therapy sessions addressing Language and Speech (LAS) goals outlined in students' IEPs.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward LAS IEP goals and objectives.
  • Complete and submit progress reports in a timely manner.
  • Track and document services provided in the IEP management system accurately.
  • Collaborate and maintain effective communication with parents, school staff, IEP teams, and outside service providers to support student success and ensure a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, providing professional insights and recommendations.
  • Document therapy sessions, including activities conducted and student performance.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student services and progress.
  • Supervise and mentor Speech Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs), providing guidance and support as applicable. .
  • Ensure that SLPAs follow best practices and adhere to professional standards in their service delivery.
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in speech-language pathology.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards in speech-language pathology practice.
  • Performs related tasks as assigned
