Chief Engineer PositionMarine Spill Response Corporation (MSRC), a not-for-profit USCG classified OSRO, is seeking a Chief Engineer to join our rotational team in Lake Charles, LA. With a legacy spanning over three decades, MSRC stands at the forefront of the oil spill removal industry. Working alongside the industry's best, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of the machinery department as well as preventative maintenance. This position offers a rotational schedule of three weeks on / three weeks off and will come with a competitive benefit package which includes medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and an excellent 401(k) savings plan.Requirements:Current USCG license of DDE or Chief Engineer of 500 GRT / 4000 HP or higherValid USCG STCW endorsements required: III/1 OICEW, III/2 or III/3 Chief Engineer without OSV limitation, III/4 RFPEW, III/5 Able Seafarer -Engine, and VI/1 VI/4Valid USCG STCW medical certificateValid TWICExperience with Caterpillar engines, hydraulic, electrical and oil recovery equipmentDemonstrated effective leadership, written, and oral communication skillsProficiency in operating industrial equipment and their systems safely40-Hour Hazwoper certification desiredEmployment is contingent upon completion of a successful background check, pre-hire medical exam and drug screen, and the ability to obtain a valid driver's license and U.S. PassportResponsibilities:Responsible for safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all the machinery and associated systems aboard the vessel including shipboard propulsion, hydraulic, electrical, and auxiliary systemsTake charge of the Engine Department, including fuel, ballast, water tanks, piping and fuel and lube oil inventory of the vesselCarry out the Preventative Maintenance program and repairs aboard the vessel, as well as short-term and long-term Preventative Maintenance plansCommunicate needs regarding supplies, spare parts, subcontractor assistance, and regulatory requirementsCompletion of required records and reports relating to the Machinery DepartmentExecutes the safety- and environmental policy on boardOversees all technical activitiesPhysical Requirements Include, Among Others:Requires standing, lifting up to 45lbsRequires the ability to wear the personnel protective equipment prescribed by posted signs and written instructionAble to work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain or dry environmentsAbility to perform work in various sea conditions, under all environmental conditions, often wet/oily decksInternal Applicants: To facilitate process, internal applicants are encouraged to speak with their supervisor and/or their HRA about their interest in, and application for, this position.
