We are looking for a highly driven and experienced Senior Buyer. This role will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and services, negotiating contracts, performing cost analysis, managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining inventory control. Additionally, the Sr. Buyer researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, styles, and products with attention to specific target market and demographics.
General Description
The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring materials and services, negotiating contracts, performing cost analysis, managing supplier relationships, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining inventory control for our global enterprise. Working alongside the Purchasing and Sourcing Manager, the Sr. Buyer will develop and implement purchasing strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and tracking supplier performance. The ideal candidate has excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, as well as a strong understanding of supply chain management. This role will be key in sourcing raw ingredients and components for our manufacturing operations, both local and overseas sourced supply, cost negotiation/price reductions, supply chain efficiencies and risk mitigation, and relationship building with vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Purchases components, supplies, material, and parts across the global enterprise
- Serve as key sourcing liaison with business line managers including production to ensure inputs are sourced and received in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manages third party manufacturing supply chain process to ensure timely deliverables
- Maintains an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders
- Delivers weekly purchase order reports to management that indicating status open & closed orders
- Works with the management team to ensure deliveries satisfy the assigned orders and clear discrepancies
- Effectively communicating with the management team to ensure all orders are accurate
- Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for components, material, consumable products, and acceptable substitutions.
- Assesses current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, delivery systems, and other variables.
- Identifies and presents market conditions and merchandise cost reports.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, prices, buyers, and delivery conditions to anticipate future material availability; directs purchasing programs accordingly.
- Maintains inventory databases for supplies and materials used.
- Negotiates and completes contracts with vendors for optimal cost and delivery times.
- Reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with company and departmental policies.
- Collaborates with sales, customer service, and logistics departments to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control department.
- Communicates with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale.
- Build and maintain relationships with vendors.
- Works with Purchasing & Sourcing Manager to establish, direct & lead the tasks to identify, select, negotiate, establish & source preferred supplier contracts, agreements, supplies & services.
- Identify, pursue, & maximize opportunities for realizing cost saving without sacrificing the quality, service & reliability expected of our supply chain.
- Review historical and competitive costs to identify cost savings opportunities and variances.
- Support special projects or initiatives as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Previous Experience & Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline
- Minimum 5-7 years senior level experience in analyzing, sourcing, negotiating vendor supply arrangements for a manufacturing operation.
- Minimum 1 year demonstrated experience in the implementation of risk mitigation strategies
- 1-2 years global sourcing experience highly preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Experience in the cosmetics/beauty industry highly desirable
- Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Must have ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, and ensure timely completion of responsibilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with Google Suite; Google Docs
- Experience with ERP systems, NetSuite preferred
- Work well in a fast-paced team environment
- Self-motivated
