This includes the pre-planning for all stages of the project (from pre to post construction). The Superintendent works diligently to meet all goals set for the specific project and manage all field operational duties.QualificationsRequired:High school diploma or GED required5-8 years of construction-related experienceStrong verbal and written communication and leadership skillsPositive attitude, strong work ethic, innovative and forward thinkingComputer literateDemonstrated experience initiating and driving continuous improvementCurrent OSHA 30 certificationPreferred:Two or four-year degree in construction related field5-8 years of field-related experienceBilingual with the ability to communicate in both Spanish and EnglishSkillsStrong collaboration and communication skills, thorough and detail-oriented, ability to prioritize and multi-task within time constraints, self-starter and motivated with minimal supervision, strong computer skills, good verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.Office and TravelMust be willing to travel regularly, various jobsites and regional office.Responsibilities and TasksPreconstruction & Development:Participate and may lead preconstruction planning, including:Crisis management planningSite logistics and safety plansSite-specific rules and regulationsCompletion of the RedbookContribute to pursuits, proposals, and interviews, offering insights on schedule, logistics, safety, and subcontractor selectionConduct and participate in pre-job walkthroughsEnsure project budgets for labor, materials, and equipment are aligned prior to project start; collaborate with Project Management to resolve issuesAssist pursuit team in analyzing and preparing for upcoming project opportunitiesParticipate in QA/AC page-turn sessions to align expectations and executionConstruction:Provide comprehensive leadership and oversight of McGough field staff, subcontractors, and suppliers on active projectsSupervise Superintendents and evaluate weekly work plans, schedules, and logisticsImplement and maintain the project schedule; ensure timely updates in coordination with Project ManagementOversee on-site documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance (e.g., drawings, logs, inspection records)Manage project budgets and forecasts for labor, material, and equipment, address deviations with Project ManagementAssist with procurement, subcontractor selection, RFI development, and trade scope reviewsOversee implementation of the site-specific Quality Control plan in partnership with QC and Project Management teamsChampion the culture of safety through leadership in orientations, safety meetings, and regulatory compliance (OSHA and others)Lead Lean construction initiatives; guide team in Pull-Planning, standard work practices, and continuous improvementOrganize and lead Superintendent and coordination meetings; ensure cross-functional alignmentTroubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges, such as delays or labor disputes, minimizing impact on progressSupport project closeout efforts, including punch list completion, commissioning, final inspections, and owner trainingBuild and sustain strong working relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholdersFoster collaboration and maintain alignment with company standards and valuesMcGough Self-Perform Work: Understand and integrate McGough's self-perform capabilities, warehouse resources, small tools, and equipment rentals into project planning and executionEstimating & Bidding: Perform quantity take-offs and assist in bid solicitation and evaluation. Participate in trade scope reviews with estimating and project teamsScheduling: Support Superintendents and Project Managers with CPM scheduling. Learn and apply Last Planner System principles; participate in weekly and daily planning sessionsProject Documentation: Review all project drawings and specifications. Manage electronic document workflows and shortcuts. Draft and process RFIs; review and process submittals and shop drawings. Participate in BIM coordination and support LEED documentation when applicableSubcontractor Management: Assist in processing subcontractor change requests and invoice reviews. Collaborate on performance tracking and complianceCost Control: Understand and apply change documentation (CCDs, PRs, ASIs, etc.). Support labor cost tracking, procurement, cost coding, and cost history reportingProject Meetings: Attend and participate in safety, coordination, foreman, startup, and PACE meetings. Document and distribute meeting minutes as requiredPeople ManagementHiring & Training: Participate in talent acquisition and onboarding; identify skills gaps and promote ongoing learningPerformance Management: Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and coaching; recognize strong performance and manage improvement plans as neededCommunication: Align team with company values and strategy; ensure transparent and consistent communicationCompliance & Culture: Promote ethical conduct, enforce policies, and foster an inclusive, safe work environmentLeadership: Set clear goals and provide mentorship to team members, encouraging a culture of accountability and collaborationPost-ConstructionParticipate in punch list generation and resolutionAssist in preparing final as-built documentationStrategy ManagementStay informed of industry trends and identify new opportunitiesSupport construction process improvements and innovationsManage key external relationships and partnershipsOther DutiesActively contribute as a member of the Federal Team, collaborating to support shared goals and objectivesEngage in business development by building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, design teams, consultants, and subcontractors, and participating in industry and McGough-sponsored eventsRepresent McGough professionally at all events, upholding company standards and serving as a positive ambassadorAttend company and project meetings, pursuing ongoing personal and professional development to enhance skills and performanceCollaborate across departments and with external stakeholders to ensure cohesive project executionActively support and participate in Lean events, promoting the McGough Way and fostering a culture of continuous improvementPerform additional duties as assigned to support team and project successPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands outlined here are representative of those required for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
