General Position Summary:


We are seeking a leader to drive all quality and regulatory initiatives within a commercial baking environment for two bakeries, multiple distribution centers and several thrift stores. This person will engage directly with operations and sales as well as other key teams and customers to deliver products that meet our high standards of excellence.



Your Day to Day:


  • Leading the company’s Quality Assurance and Food Safety strategies and tactics. He or she will also partner with operations on needed insight and guidance to the sanitation function who report to operations. He or she develops and implements processes and systems to achieve high quality products.
  • Creation, implementation, enforcement, and regular updates to QA/QC policies, protocols, procedures, training and testing/inspection/audit programs for the company’s operations and suppliers that meet or exceed evolving governmental regulations and customer expectations, to ensure all company products comply with high safety and quality standards.
  • Leading, updating, monitoring, and communicating properly on the Food Safety Management Program.
  • Providing leadership to Quality Assurance and Food Safety including selection, required training, coaching, establishing goals and performance management. He or she will mentor, guide, and inspire the teams to ensure professional growth, accountability, efficiency, and quality of work.
  • Ensuring company compliance with all GFSI, HACCP, FSSC regulations. Working with health inspectors related to all compliance issues (i.e. alleged food borne illness incidences, contamination of food supply, etc.) as well as with local health inspectors and/or customers to resolve issues.
  • Developing an external network to benchmark and assess industry and regulatory trends that impact the business; developing plans to mitigate risks.
  • Identifying and communicating key quality, regulatory responsibilities and practices to ensure the organization promotes a healthy attitude in these areas.
  • Proactively and effectively partner with operations, sales and other internal teams to communicate, train, solve issues and improve all related efforts.



What We’re Looking For:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Operations or equivalent work experience.
  • Ten to fifteen years of related experience in a manufacturing environment on plant floor, interacting with all levels of people.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, FSSC Standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving capabilities with the ability to analyze data, trends and correlations.
  • Certification in lead internal audit trainer and ability to conduct, participate in various on-site audits.
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, ability to maintain confidentiality and support company mission and values.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as research.
  • Ability to legally work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver's license.


Other Capabilities and Requirements:


  • This role is in-office and works in both an office and plant environment.
  • Must be able to work in and around operating equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for a combined 8 or more hours a day.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull or otherwise transport up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work from/travel to remote locations as needed and to work non-typical hours at times.
