Quality Assurance Specialist

Position Overview:

The Schwebel Baking Company is in search of a Quality Assurance Specialist to support our facility in enhancing and monitoring all quality benchmarks for our products. The selected candidate will conduct, assess, and supervise various evaluations to meet the Company's standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities will also include ensuring customer quality and compliance with audit requirements. This role will involve collaboration with production supervisors, sanitation teams, maintenance, shipping, and various administrative personnel. A comprehensive understanding of food quality, customer expectations, safety protocols, and relevant regulations is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all products meet Schwebel's quality standards through various inspections, visual assessments, and quality control audits. Conduct regular walkthroughs during shifts to verify product quality and safety.
  • Examine products for adherence to FDA and/or ODA standards as well as FSSC 22000 certification requirements.
  • Collaborate with all departments to implement Schwebel's Quality Programs in accordance with FSSC, GFSI, and customer specifications. Report and take necessary actions to mitigate food safety, regulatory, or quality issues. Propose updates to Quality Programs as needed.
  • Generate, monitor, and distribute quality, food safety, or regulatory reports to relevant stakeholders. Take proactive measures to prevent related issues. Assist in developing additional metrics and reports.
  • Ensure all products and machinery operate within established requirements. Communicate concerns to appropriate department leaders.
  • Support the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager in organizing meetings with regulatory bodies, customers, or stakeholders as required.
  • Address customer inquiries and expectations. Analyze customer feedback and data trends to identify areas for improvement.
  • Engage positively with employees at all levels to enhance productivity and reduce compliance issues.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to company safety policies.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree preferred; High school diploma required.
  • At least two years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • A minimum of two years in food manufacturing or a similar role within Quality Control.
  • Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, and FSSC Standards.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with all levels of management and staff.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and support company values.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements:

This position is primarily in-office and requires working in both an office and manufacturing environment. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is necessary. Ability to travel to remote locations as needed.

Must be capable of working in proximity to operating equipment in a manufacturing setting.

Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, as well as the ability to lift and transport up to 50 pounds occasionally.
