Overview:


The client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager to oversee the development and execution of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects. As a key member of the project delivery team, the Construction Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of construction from pre-construction through project closeout. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility-scale renewable energy projects, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within scope, and on budget.


Key Responsibilities:


Project Planning & Pre-Construction:


- Collaborate with the project development team to provide input on constructability, budget, and schedule during the design and planning phases.

- Assist in selecting and negotiating contracts with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) firms, subcontractors, and suppliers.

- Develop detailed construction plans, schedules, and logistics to ensure efficient project execution.


Construction Management:


- Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality specifications, and project timelines.

- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure all materials and resources are available to meet project milestones.

- Monitor and control project costs, manage change orders, and work to mitigate potential risks.


Quality Control & Safety:


- Implement and enforce a rigorous quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) program to ensure all work meets industry standards and project specifications.

- Oversee safety protocols, ensuring that all construction activities adhere to OSHA and the client’s safety standards.

- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify and rectify any potential issues or non-compliance.


Stakeholder Coordination & Communication:


- Serve as the primary point of contact for all on-site personnel, including subcontractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies.

- Facilitate regular progress meetings with project stakeholders to communicate status, address issues, and ensure alignment.

- Prepare and present project reports, including schedule updates, budget performance, and risk assessments, to senior management.


Project Closeout:


- Ensure all project documentation, including as-built drawings, operation manuals, and warranty information, is completed and handed over to the operations team.

- Manage the commissioning process, ensuring systems are tested, verified, and fully operational before final handover.

- Lead post-construction review meetings to capture lessons learned and identify areas for improvement in future projects.


Qualifications:


- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

- 7+ years of experience in construction management, with a focus on utility-scale solar and/or battery energy storage projects.

- Proven track record of managing multi-million-dollar construction projects from inception to completion.

- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations in the renewable energy sector.

- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and construction management tools.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:


- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager).

- Experience with both solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

- Knowledge of interconnection and grid integration for renewable energy projects.
