Healthcare Accountant/ Analyst


CommuniCare Health Services is currently recruiting a business professional for the position of Accountant /Reimbursement Analyst. The Accountant /Reimbursement Analyst is responsible for supporting the Director of Reimbursement in compiling data, reporting, preparing work papers and completing analysis. The ideal candidate will be based in proximity to one of our offices in either Cincinnati, Indianapolis or Baltimore but remote candidates will be considered as well.


Position Overview:

The Healthcare Accountant/Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing financial data specific to Medicare and Medicaid programs, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making processes. This role combines traditional accounting responsibilities with analytical tasks, playing a critical part in our finance team. The Accountant/Reimbursement Analyst reports to the Director of Reimbursement.


Accounting Duties:

  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
  • Ensure accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Manage the reconciliation of accounts related to Medicare and Medicaid transactions
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations and reporting requirements
  • Compile statistical data for internal reports and regulatory agencies
  • Assist the Director of Reimbursement with inquiries from third party auditors and payors
  • Support others in the organization on Medicare/Medicaid issues by providing information and conducting analysis
  • Prepare cost reports and financial filings for Medicare and Medicaid for several states
  • Monitor changes in Medicare and Medicaid regulations and ensure organizational compliance.


Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support decision-making processes
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management based on analysis
  • Work closely with the finance team and other departments to gather and analyze financial data
  • Prepare and present financial reports to management and stakeholders


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification is a plus
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the healthcare industry
  • Knowledge of and competency in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement preferred but not required

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
