The Buyer is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated with the companys needs for direct and indirect materials and services fixed assets and tooling and selecting production materials and services. These products and services are to be secured at cost quality and delivery competitive levels consistent with company policy and performance standards. The position is further responsible for conducting necessary data analysis and helping maintain the master data set up in SAP for the smooth functioning of operations.

Key Responsibilities

Initiate closely monitor and release purchase orders and amendments for parts services and/or special tools; arrange for submission and inspection of sample products as required; maintain close coordination with operations to ensure timely execution of product sourcing activities.
Review and act on MRP alerts by creating releasing and confirming purchase orders.
Work with vendors on past due items expedite requests and on cost reduction projects.
Enter and maintain planning parameters for purchased materials and information related to vendor master data within the ERP system.
Coordinate with vendors on all quality control aspects and create purchase return orders to return nonconforming materials (discrepant materials) back to vendors.
Coordinate with vendors on the engineering changes initiated by the company.
Advise company activities and critical developments in the supply chain to management.
Analyze supplier capabilities and search prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities transportation logistics inventory control and management; negotiate prices and delivery terms with guidance from a senior buyer or the purchasing management for assigned responsibilities.
Secure and analyze quotations negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and recommend suppliers concerning cost quality and delivery competitiveness.
Perform strategic decisionmaking to align with the company s longterm and shortterm goals.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

MRP/MPS experience within SAP.
Proficient in problemsolving and process analysis; capacity to troubleshoot and correct problems in highpressure situations.
Prior experience in Six Sigma methods preferred.
Knowledge of inbound logistics for domestic and international supply chain.
Certifications in materials and supply chain are mandatory.
Must be selfmotivated able to work independently within team teamfocused environment.
Excellent organization time management attention to detail and multitasking ability.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with employees customers and vendors at all levels of the organization including the ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively.
Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Firm commitment to customer service excellence in all circumstances.
Experience with equivalent production and inventory control procedures; experience with shipping and receiving procedures transport insurance loss and breakage control and theft control.
Must be PC literate with Microsoft Office Suite of products.
