KBW Financial Staffing and Recruiting has partnered with a local construction organization in their search for a highly skilled Project Accountant who will be responsible for general ledger (G/L), payroll, month-end and year-end closings, financial reporting, project accountant and ensuring compliance with tax and audit requirements. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills, integrity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of their work. This is a hybrid opportunity and will require the selected candidate to be onsite during training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all company financial activities, providing direct supervision to supporting staff.
  • Manage the general ledger and payroll functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform all facets of month-end and year-end closing processes. Prepare income statements, balance sheets, monthly financial statements, and annual reports.
  • Review Work-In-Progress with project managers and submit monthly billings.
  • Complete local, state, and federal tax filings. Handle year-end tasks, including W-2 and 1099 preparation.
  • Monitor and control cash flow, collaborating with banks and investment institutions to maintain accounts.
  • Conduct audits and ensure all financial compliance activities are completed accurately and on time.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in financial statement preparation and analysis, with a firm understanding of construction cost accounting.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
  • Capable of identifying and correcting inconsistencies in financial data.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with construction accounting software is a plus, but not required.
  • A college degree in accounting or significant equivalent experience and training. A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and finance.
