Role Summary: The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for schematic design and updates, component selection, qualification, reliability analysis/prediction, and lifecycle management of components used in power supply products. This role requires close collaboration with Product Line Engineers, Quality Assurance (QA), and Purchasing departments.

Key Responsibilities:


Component Management:

  • Identify and source alternate components for existing and new product designs based on cost and availability.
  • Collaborate with Product Line Engineers, QA, and Purchasing departments for component selection and qualification.
  • Write Engineering Change Requests (ECR) to process Product Change Notifications (PCNs) from suppliers and manage component database updates.
  • Perform and document component level tests to qualify new components as per internal procedures.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Interface with material suppliers to gather compliance documentation.
  • Work with Environmental Compliance Analysts to update compliance information in the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) databases.
  • Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOM), manufacturing processes, and finished goods part numbering systems.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of internal part number descriptions and attributes.

Reliability and Obsolescence Management:

  • Actively identify and resolve issues related to obsolete components and suppliers.
  • Provide inputs to improve product reliability in new designs.
  • Perform reliability modeling and predictions, including Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) calculations.

Schematic and Fault Analysis:

  • Update schematics and perform fault/failure analysis to improve product designs.
  • Write scientific documents based on test results obtained from component qualification or unit level tests.


Core Competencies:

  • Project Management: Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex schematics and documents.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in advanced mathematical concepts and operations (e.g., exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, frequency distribution, analysis of variance).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: One or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Prior experience as a Component Engineer or Electrical Design Engineer is required.
  • ITAR Compliance: Must be a U.S. person as defined by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which includes U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, Political Asylees, or Refugees.
