We have an Oil & Gas company based in Downtown Houston, TX looking to hire a Lead Project Controls Analyst to oversee project schedule and cost development in support of engineering and management teams during project stages, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Start-Up. This position will support various development projects and may involve occasional visits to contractor offices and construction sites.


Industry: Oil & Gas

Work location: Houston, TX

Workplace: On-site / In-office (no remote/WFH opportunity)

Work schedule: Monday-Friday / 40 hours a week

Worktype: W2 Contract

Estimated duration: One year to start with the opportunity for long-term extension based on performance

Rate: Hourly with 1.5x OT

Travel: Occasional visits to contractor offices and construction sites.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Provide schedules to support estimates and studies within project stages.
  • Participate in contractor’s schedules kick-off meetings.
  • Engage with contractors to ensure schedule completeness and accuracy.
  • Assess project progress against plan and advise leadership accordingly.
  • Prepare Look Ahead reports.
  • Develop interface schedules.
  • Execute schedule risk assessments and contingency planning.
  • Assist with validation of contractor’s Change Orders.
  • Produce project status reports and management presentations.
  • Participate in assurance reviews.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to schedule agreements.
  • Develop and deliver Integrated Project Schedules (IPS).
  • Meet planning and scheduling deliverable deadlines.


Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

Knowledge: Proficiency in engineering, procurement, and construction activities, schedule logic, cost reports, and procedures in the industry. Familiarity with scheduling software like Primavera Project Planner, Ms. Project, etc.

  • Superior understanding of standard EPC contract terms.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and office software.
  • Knowledge of scheduling techniques and tools.
  • Proficiency in planning, schedule control, and cost control functions.
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management System.
  • Knowledge of financial and budget systems.

Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in project controls environment, preferably in oil and gas or engineering and construction. FERC experience preferred.
