Patient Care Technician

The Patient Care Technician provides essential patient support by assisting with clinical tasks, patient documentation, and administrative functions to enhance patient care and ensure an efficient clinic environment.
This role involves preparing patients for exams, updating electronic health records (EHR), processing referrals, and maintaining compliance with clinic protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients to exam and procedure rooms, collect patient-reported medical and social histories, record vital signs, and update allergy and medication information in the EHR.
- Transcribe orders into the EHR for films, x-rays, labs, and other studies accurately and promptly.
- Process referrals to other provider offices and ensure all necessary documentation is included in patient charts.
- Gather and prepare reports, labs, and study data for upcoming patient appointments.
- Fax and copy information as needed for insurance companies, other provider offices, and related facilities.
- Maintain accurate and timely EHR records and handle in-basket messages and work queues.
- Prepare charts for clinic and manage tasks such as room stocking, copying documents, and filing during downtime.
- Obtain required signatures from providers or patients on appropriate documents.
- Assist with inventory and ordering of medical and office supplies.
- Follow clinic dress code, safety protocols, and Code of Conduct to ensure patient safety and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of EHR systems and basic medical terminology.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate data entry and documentation.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Basic proficiency with office equipment for faxing, copying, and handling patient records.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or clinical setting.
Certifications
- Compliance with any required clinic-specific certifications and protocols.
