Job Summary:

The Risk & Safety Specialist will play a critical role in managing and mitigating risks at our client sites. This position is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving safety protocols to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to foster a culture of safety among all employees.


General Responsibilities:

  • Manage WC Injuries: Work with employees, supervisors, insurance adjusters, etc. Report injuries, follow injuries throughout the duration of the claim, work toward early return-to-work & timely closures and release of reserves. Update database monthly.
  • Track injuries not requiring medical care
  • Manage WC policy monthly payroll reports, rates, class codes, certificates of insurance
  • Produce Loss Runs & other requested material at Policy Renewal
  • Responsible for all WC policy audits
  • Manage policies for monopolistic states and individual states not included in primary WC policy, their related payroll reporting and audits.
  • Develop a working relationship with brokers/account managers to effectively manage all aspects of WC
  • Obtain new WC policies when needed
  • Determine class codes and rates for Sales Persons and staffing recruiters
  • Responsible for maintenance of WC codes and rates in TempWorks
  • Update client lists with insurance companies and obtains certificates of insurance for clients per state
  • Create and submit monthly reports for WC losses, estimated policy payments, etc., updating database
  • Manage and supervise Injury & Illness Prevention Program and National Safety Program for all employees. Identify high-risk areas and work to reduce risks
  • New Clients: Work with Onsite Managers & Internal liaisons to ensure all injury reporting procedures, medical providers, safety training & postings are in place
  • Maintain OSHA compliance, meet with inspectors when required, provide OSHA logs to clients annually
  • Research and coordinate Job Safety Analysis and Job Descriptions per client and facility
  • Prepare safety information specific to client needs, geared toward the specific duties/injuries of employees in individual facilities. Create hand-outs and powerpoint presentations according to the client’s needs.
  • Safety Committee Chairperson: Duties include overseeing the preparation of meeting minutes, facility inspections, injury tracking, and safety promotion ideas.


Skills/Competencies:

  • Word, Excel, various Payroll systems and Internet navigational skills
  • Ability to learn new software applications
  • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and good mathematical abilities
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and follow-through
