Supervises all staff personnel activities. Coordinates and enforces all pharmacy departmental policies and procedures. Helps develop departmental procedures with assistance from pharmacy staff members and personnel from other departments to ensure optimal delivery of pharmacy services. Manages site-specific pharmacy information systems. Performs daily pharmacist activities as needed. Performs duties as assigned by Director of Pharmacy
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).
Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.
Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.
Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range of treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated (i.e., neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics). Completes and maintains hospital and departmental competencies.
Performs daily pharmacist activities as needed.
Assists in coordinating pharmacy activities among hospital sites.
Responsible for IV Lab operations including clean room and hood certifications, staff supervision and training, competencies, and 797 guidelines.
Assists in scheduling and the direction and control of day-to-day operations.
Responsible for scheduling and developing student rotations.
Responsible for monitoring pharmacy Quality Assurance Programs.
Assists in the development and planning of staff education (internal and external),
Resolves problems, situations or questions concerning medication therapy or logistics between Pharmacy and other hospital departments.
Assists in developing departmental goals and objectives.
Collaborates with management team in developing departmental policies and procedures.
Assists Director in developing budgets.
Supervises the purchase and inventory maintenance of pharmaceuticals.
Participates in quality improvement activities.
Interviews prospective employees in conjunction with management team.
Performs departmental human resources activities:
- Assures that new department employees' complete hospital and department orientation.
- Assures that employees maintain competency to perform job functions.
- Counsels employees regarding their work performance.
- Completes required performance reviews.
- Coordinates volunteer staff activities.
Oversees workload and personnel scheduling.
Completes and maintains departmental competencies as related to the position.
Assists with controlled substance activities.
Assures proper functioning of the floor stock distribution system.
Assists in ensuring that unit inspections are completed each month and identified problems are corrected.
Collaborates with the Director of Pharmacy and supports all pharmacy operations and programs.
