The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to assess and identify potential hazards in the workplace. The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will also be responsible for traveling to worksites to conduct safety training sessions, perform safety audits, and provide guidance on best practices.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deploy site specific training programs and plans.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide safety training to staff, contractors, and visitors.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root cause and corrective action.
  • Monitor environmental conditions to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Develop emergency response plans for hazardous materials incidents.
  • Conduct air quality monitoring and sampling.
  • Perform risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Knowledge of all applicable laws, regulations, safe work practices and accident prevention programs. Understanding of applicable state worker’s compensation guidelines. Experience with OSHA.


Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) required.
  • Strong HSE regulatory knowledge and expertise (EPA, OSHA, DOT) required.
  • 5 years’ experience managing safety and environmental programs or projects
  • Demonstrated leadership in leading an HSE program/system in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with hazard recognition, behavioral-based safety, job hazard analysis preferred.
  • OSHA 501
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
