Position Title: Data Center Technician
Must be willing to work on location
Must be willing to work evening, overnight and weekend shifts (24x7 environment)
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Data Center Technician to join our team at our large colocation hosting facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center operations, including hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as an understanding of network infrastructure. This role requires a proactive individual who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of data center uptime and availability.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, networking hardware, and other data center equipment.
- Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on data center infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor systems to detect issues proactively and respond to alerts to minimize downtime and service interruptions.
- Assist with capacity planning and the implementation of new equipment and infrastructure upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with all data center policies and procedures, including security protocols and disaster recovery plans.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors on equipment installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Document all maintenance, repair, and service activities in detail.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients as needed.
- Participate in a 24.7.365 Shift schedule.
Basic Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a data center or IT support role, preferably in a colocation environment.
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and network architecture.
- Experience with server hardware, operating systems, and networking technologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements related to data center operations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent are a plus.
- Please be aware that this position requires the candidate to obtain a security clearance. For any security clearance, US Citizenship is required to proceed.
