Position: Program Facilitator (Special Education Transition Program)
Reports to: Head of Service
Status: Full Time
Job Summary:
The Program Facilitator is an integral part of the Step Up Institute’s Transition Hub programming and is responsible under the direction of the Program Coordinator and supervision of the Head of Service to:
- Provide hands-on training and instruction across various vocational and adaptive behavior programming areas, ensuring that all lessons are tailored to meet the needs of clients
- Assist in developing, organizing, and implementing curriculum and activities that promote skill acquisition, independence, and vocational readiness, while continuously evaluating and improving program content
- Offer individualized support to clients, monitoring their progress, providing constructive feedback, and conducting regular assessments to identify areas of improvement and ensure each client meets their learning objectives.
- Work closely with the Program Coordinator, other staff members, and external partners to coordinate program activities, share insights and updates, and ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment
- Manage classroom and activity resources effectively, ensuring all materials and equipment are used safely and maintained properly, while fostering a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all clients.
Additionally, the Program Facilitator is responsible for a caseload of clients as well as collecting data and progress monitoring for reports.
Certifications and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field OR equivalent years of experience in educational or vocational settings
- Current (dated within a year) Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances
- Negative TB test dated within three months of hire
Essential Duties:
- Strong understanding, planning, implementation and assessment of vocational and adaptive behavior programming
- Ability to engage clients through a variety of instructional strategies.
- With the Program Coordinator, assist in the implementation, and maintenance of the Institute's Transition Hub
- Manage and lead Program Assistants to ensure implementation of programming is followed with high fidelity with the Program Coordinator
- Attend regular meetings for staff
- Follow Institute policies for crises and emergencies
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to client progress, services provided, and compliance requirements.
- Create and disseminate reports to relevant stakeholders at least every 6 weeks or as needed
- Monitor client progress in programs and reports to parents and school districts
- Ensure that program and service quality is maintained
- Follow schedule of services, as assigned
- Ensure clear and consistent communication across all domains and constituencies
- Respond promptly and professionally to individual and family needs and requests; maintain confidentiality
- The Program Facilitator will be responsible for providing vocational and adaptive behavior programming with accommodations and modifications to assignments, supplemental materials to support clients, overseeing and facilitating daily schedules, implementing and ensuring fidelity with program plans, one-to-one instructional support, and collaborating with various professionals on behalf of each client to ensure success, including management of support staff within the program. Specific duties Include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for planning programming for all clients in accordance with the Institute’s curriculum and client goals with a specific focus on differentiated instruction
- Supervise program assistants by providing direction on programming and data collection for all clients
- Communicate in a timely and professional manner with parents though written, electronic, or telephone methods.
- Implement vocational and adaptive behavior plans for clients under direction of the Program Coordinator and Head of Service
- Provide direct vocational and adaptive behavior programming to clients in one-to-one and small group settings
- Write compliant and effective Vocational Support Plans for caseload of clients, with support from the Head of Service and Program Coordinator.
- Attend, participate in, and facilitate Vocational Support Plans meetings for caseload clients
- Complete client progress summaries for meetings
- Complete Vocational Support Plan Progress Reports every 6 weeks
- Ensure data is collected on all client goals
- A strong understanding and demonstrated commitment to the Step Up Institute’s philosophy of a collaborative approach to vocational and adaptive behavior programming rooted in supportive and caring delivery of services and trauma-informed care.
- Travel between campuses as needed and directed.
- Duties can be performed in the building, community, or in other off-campus locations.

- To attend all mandatory meetings, including those that fall outside of regularly scheduled school hours and as described in the Employee Handbook.
- Contribute to a positive work culture and climate
- Represent the Institute's values and philosophy when interacting with all stakeholders

- Good team player and very reliable in working without close supervision.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving light furniture may be required. Adequate vision and hearing ability for monitoring children’s verbal and non-verbal responses. Ability to provide a quality behavioral and speech/language model for clients and staff.
Safety and Health:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
Equipment/Material Handled:
Program Facilitators shall be assigned a variety of curriculum, evaluation, and consulting materials which are to be appropriately stored and accounted for. All media resources and borrowed material are to be judiciously used, and are to be maintained in a reasonably unsoiled and non- damaged fashion. Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
