Director - Manufacturing and Process Engineering

Valensa International, a specialty ingredient producer near Orlando Florida is looking for a Process Engineering Manager to over production and management of a high-pressure, supercritical CO2 extraction facility.

 

The ideal candidate has a Chemical Engineering degree, manufacturing experience and enjoys working with others at all levels. This person will have experience working for a company in the food, beverage, raw material & ingredient or a dietary supplement related industry

 

The role is located in Eustis, Florida. Relocation assistance will be provided for the successful candidate.

 

Key responsibilities:

·        Oversee the production processes for a high-pressure, supercritical CO2 extraction operation with 20 direct and indirect team members.

·        Make decisions regarding plant operations, inventory requirements – raw material and finished, staffing requirements and work procedures.

·        Provide Operation & Engineering leadership to plant and other company interests [Drying company, Co-Manufacturers] and be customer facing to represent our plant.

·        Provide hands-on, day-to-day management of plant operation staff.

·        Oversee, design, and implement capital asset projects for upgrades and new operations.

·        Establish process measurement programs and develop action plans to improve efficiency, safer operations, and process improvements.

·        Evaluate and implement new production and quality tracking systems into operational excellence, manufacturing, maintenance, cGMP, and unit operations.

·        Work with logistics and sales teams to optimize the production schedule and Capacity planning to meet customer requirements in short term and in the long term.

·        Collaborate along with the team on product innovation and introduction of new products and processing leveraging the pilot plant.

·        On occasion, identify tolling opportunities for SFE extraction plant with strategic companies to improve utilization of the plant.

·        Ensure adequate training programs and SOPs exist for personnel in operating, maintaining, and repairing the processes of the facility within internal quality and safety GMP programs and applicable FDA, OSHA, and EPA regulations.

 

Professional qualification and skills:

·        Undergraduate Degree in Chemical Engineering

·        10+ years in increasing roles of responsibility in the areas of of process development, manufacturing operations and personnel management;

·        Food ingredient or related manufacturing a plus

·        Experience and understanding of SFE processing with Botanicals and Biomass are highly desired.

·        Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally and provide public speaking representing the Company as needed.

·        Team building and labor management skills. Enjoy managing, training and developing production personnel.

·        Proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing and database applications.

·        Able to work independently as well as efficiently in a team environment.

·        Critical thinking skills and sound ability to apply data-based problem-solving methods is necessary. Black-Belt Lean Six Sigma is a huge plus.

·        Experience and understanding of plant financial metrics, budgets and P&L working with Finance.
