We have a great opportunity for an outstanding candidate for our Surgical Tech position now. We perform anesthesia cases two to four times a week in our AAAHC accredited Operating Room. You will be responsible to scrub and prepare for all surgical cases. Plus on non-surgical days, you will participate in clinic patient care. You must be personable and well spoken. We have a small staff and work very hard but work well as a team. Recent graduates and candidates with special attributes will be considered. Personal attributes included utter reliability, strong work ethic, minimal drama, independent thinking, and strong teamwork ethic.

·       Maintain the sterile field throughout surgical procedures

·       Assist the surgical team with scrubbing in and putting on gloves and masks

·       Pass surgical instruments to surgeons as needed during surgical procedures

·       Hold retractors and complete additional tasks at surgeon’s request during procedures

·       Handle tissue specimens obtained for laboratory analysis

·       Count sponges, rags, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures

·       Following surgeries, wash and sterilize all medical instruments and equipment

·       Clean, organize and restock the operating room following surgical procedures

·       Supply fluids for use during operations, including blood, glucose, plasma, and saline

·       Prepare patients for surgical procedures

·       Ensure proper operation of equipment such as lights and suction machines

·       Offer technical assistance to the surgical team: surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists

·       Greet patients and take back to clinical rooms

·       Verify patients’ procedures for clinical procedures

·       Have patients sign medical consents for clinical procedures

·       Prepare rooms and ensure supplies are ready, ordering more when necessary

·       Assist in procedures and examinations

Surgical Tech Requirements and Qualifications

·     Associate of Science degree in surgical technology or related field

·     Completion of vocational certificate program in surgical technology

·     Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting

·     Two years of experience in a similar position preferred but not required

·     Able to monitor yourself, others, and machines to ensure proper performance

·     Consistent ability to coordinate tasks and actions with a team

·     Excellent active listening and interpersonal communication skills

·     Persistent arm-hand steadiness and manual dexterity

·     Capable of discerning differences in shades of color and brightness
