JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provides supervision for the following aspects of the Surgical & Orthopedic Care Clinics, in conjunction with the Manager of Clinic Operations. Supervises staff in defined areas to achieve appropriate staffing, resource utilization and cost containment objectives of the organization. Under the direction of the Manager of Clinic Operations, provides care to patients in Surgical Care & Orthopedic care with mentoring and support to ensure daily operational goals are met to ensure regulatory compliance.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Obtains, verifies, and records health history of patients.
Gathers pertinent health data through physical assessments and biological samples.
Collects specimens utilizing proper technique for laboratory analysis. Performs point of care testing for all testing done in clinic. Provides patient care as directed by physician or advanced practice clinician and is able to make skilled judgements based on patient presentation and protocols in place.
Documents assessments, interventions, patient/family interactions/responses, medications dispensed/prescribed, and test results in medical record.
Assists other health care professionals in performing exams, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and minor surgical procedures in the clinic setting.
Ensures all patient information is in accurate locations of the patient chart for quality reporting and data extraction purposes.
Coordinate and manage care of patients seen by provider including but not limited to following up and tracking testing, referrals.
Stays informed of insurance requirements and guidelines for patient care. Performs prior authorizations and acts as patient advocate.
Regularly monitors patients as appropriate to promote wellness and health maintenance including preventative and chronic care.
Participates in the development of the plan of care with other team members and safely implements that plan.
Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating provider advice/instructions.
Schedules, coordinates and communicates referrals to specialist and services ordered by the provider.
Assist in patient scheduling of surgical procedures and prior authorizations.
Assist the Orthopedic Surgeon, General Surgeon and Advanced Practice Providers in procedures performed within the clinic.
Lead by example, manage up and support change through out the department and the organization.
Supervise staff with daily and weekly processes. Promote Occupational Health Standards of Performance.
Gives input into Huddle topics and monthly department meetings. Maintains records of both meetings that are available to staff.
Maintains clinic supplies, and identifies any new supplies needed.
Maintains a par level spread sheet as well as an outdate spreadsheet.
Designates a par level sheet for the clinic and supervise that staff are consistently maintaining the room par level.
Oversees the daily operation of the clinic. Helps to trouble shoot patient and scheduling issues.
Organizes staffing for the clinic on daily basis as well as gives direction on ETO sign off.
Promotes staff education and helps staff to grow in their knowledge.
Helps with the facilitation of staff competencies annually.
Works collaboratively with other departments to remove barrios and improve processes.
Works as a team member with other supervisors and managers to problem solve and identify barriers as well as solutions.
