Role Description

This is a full-time Locum on-site role for an Optometrist located in Polacca, AZ. The Optometrist will be responsible for conducting eye examinations, diagnosing and treating vision problems, prescribing glasses and contact lenses, and providing primary eye care services. The Optometrist will also educate patients on proper eye care and assist with the management of eye health conditions.


Full-scope primary eye care, delivered independently without assistance from techs or nurses. This will include obtaining and documenting in the EHR an ophthalmic and medical history (and reviewing that which is contained in the EHR), a comprehensive ophthalmic exam, accurate and complete diagnoses, and effective treatment plans. Treatment plans will include (as clinically indicated) the prescription of eyewear, contact lenses, oral and ophthalmic medications, and ordering ancillary testing as needed. Ancillary testing may include but not be limited to ophthalmic imaging studies (ultrasound, photos, OCT, pachymetry, etc), visual field testing, laboratory studies, and radiographic imaging (plane films, CT, and MRI). Minor surgical procedures, such as foreign body removal and papilloma excision, and pre- operative and post-operative care of various ophthalmic surgeries, is also expected. In all cases, documenting, performing, and arranging follow-up and referrals as needed is required as well.


Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
  • State licensure as an Optometrist
  • Experience in conducting eye examinations and diagnosing vision problems
  • Knowledge of current optometry practices and technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Experience working with diverse populations is a plus


SHIFTS:

Full-time assignments shall attend assigned meetings. 

Work week is Sunday 12:00 AM to Saturday 11:59 PM.

Full Time Shift Schedules: 8 hour shifts:

Monday 0800 – 1700 

Tuesday 0800 – 1700 

Wednesday 0800 – 1700 

Thursday 0800 – 1700 

Friday 0800 – 1700 



Requirements

a. Years of Experience: minimum of (2) years of experience as a clinical optometrist.

b. Minimum Education: Doctor of Optometry (O.D.)

c. Current certification in BLS (Basic Life Support)

d. Applicants must have an active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action license as an

optometrist in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory

of the United States.
