DescriptionInvent the future with us. Recognized by Fast Company’s 2023 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators List, Ampere is a semiconductor design company for a new era, leading the future of computing with an innovative approach to CPU design focused on high-performance, energy efficient, sustainable cloud computing.By providing a new level of predictable performance, efficiency, and sustainability Ampere is working with leading cloud suppliers and a growing partner ecosystem to deliver cloud instances, servers and embedded/edge products that can handle the compute demands of today and tomorrow.Join us at Ampere and work alongside a passionate and growing team — we’d love to have you applyAbout the role:We are looking for an expert in the field of silicon initialization firmware.  An expert with the capacity to be a senior principal firmware advisor to the architecture for and leading the implementation of production worthy firmware solutions which enable delivery of present and future Ampere products to market.  In this role, you will directly influence silicon/system architects, silicon and firmware engineering development, and program and executive management, impacting the overall usefulness of novel and industry standard Ampere technology offerings.  You will leverage your understanding of System on a Chip (SoC) goals to define requirements for and lead development of Ampere firmware products.In this role, you will join our growing firmware organization where we are advancing the art of high performance SoC development targeted for data center customers.  You will have a high level of flexibility to craft productivity flows to make highly visible contributions to firmware and Ampere at large.What you’ll achieve:Collaborate across the company to guide the direction for firmware solutions.Work with customers and partners to identify and address firmware needs and issues and ensure the objectives that are delivered adequately reflect the needs of our customers.Own product-level firmware definition and lead our Firmware teams to ensure robust product implementation.Analyze requirements, as well as software and integration approaches to define feature roadmaps and implementation methodologies.Lead responding to high-priority issues or customer needs across the firmware spaceAbout you:BS (MS preferred) degree or foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical field with 12+ years’ experience, concentrating on firmware.7+ years firmware silicon development including use of micro controllers7+ and CPU based initialization methodologiesKnowledge of server firmware features and standards and how these standards are incorporated into solution definition, design, development, and validation/verification activitiesExperience with silicon bring up, hardware boot sequence creation and implementation, and system level feature implementationGreat communication skills, comfortable with reaching out and asking questions.Technical curiosity, and ability to learn and growA natural inclination to persuade through data analysis when introducing new concepts and processes Self-managed individual with excellent problem-solving skillsExperience with 32-bit/64-bit processors Experience with micro controller development Experience with I2C, SPI, GPIO, UART, PCIe, system fabric interconnects, CPU firmware programming and/or NIC cards What we’ll offer:At Ampere we believe in taking care of our employees and providing a competitive total rewards package that includes base pay, bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The full base pay range for this role is between $163,100 and $271,900, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $171,800 and $286,300.
