Atlanta, United States Twistient Corp. Full time

About Twistient Corp.

Twistient Corp. is an early-stage startup pioneering the development of neuromorphic computing technologies and commercializing recent advancements in twistronics and 2D material devices.

Our mission is to pioneer a new computing architecture paradigm designed for the artificial intelligence era.

Our primary focus is creating brain-inspired, biorealistic computing systems that are energy-efficient, scalable, and capable of learning and adapting in real-time for edge AI applications.

We are a team of passionate innovators, researchers, and engineers committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible with neuromorphic computing.

Role Overview

We are seeking an innovative and skilled Neuromorphic Hardware Engineer to join our team and lead the development of our cutting-edge neuromorphic chip prototype.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of novel materials and advanced circuit design and translating this into functional neuromorphic systems. You will collaborate closely with our team to design, fabricate, and test neuromorphic devices and integrate them into complete chip solutions.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of AI hardware, working with state-of-the-art nanofabrication techniques and pushing the boundaries of neuromorphic computing.

What You'll Do

  • Design and simulate neuromorphic cores and complete chip architectures using industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Develop and optimize the fabrication process for neuromorphic devices and arrays, working in cleanroom facilities.
  • Create detailed system architectures and block diagrams for neuromorphic SoCs, including integration of ADCs, DACs, microcontrollers, and memory components.
  • Implement and test signal conditioning circuits, power management systems, and communication interfaces for the neuromorphic chip.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to verify the functionality and performance of fabricated chips.
  • Collaborate with the Materials Engineer to optimize device performance and with the Systems Engineer to ensure hardware supports required neuromorphic algorithms.
  • Contribute to the development of intellectual property (IP) and the publication of scientific papers and patents.

What We're Looking For

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Nanoengineering, or a related field, with a strong background in semiconductor device physics and circuit design.
  • Hands-on experience with nanofabrication techniques, especially EBL, and familiarity with 2D materials and heterostructures is preferred.
  • Proficiency in hardware description languages (VHDL/Verilog) and circuit simulation tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys Design Compiler).
  • Experience with FPGA programming and embedded systems design.
  • Familiarity with neuromorphic computing principles and spiking neural networks (SNNs) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and their hardware implementation is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work at multiple levels of abstraction, from nanoscale device fabrication to system-level chip design.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary environment.

What We Offer

  • Competitive compensation package with a significant equity component
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (pending company growth and funding)
  • Flexible work hours and vacation policy
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • A dynamic and inclusive startup culture that values innovation, creativity, and collaboration

We are a lean and agile startup team passionate about revolutionizing the field of neuromorphic computing. As an early employee, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the direction of our technology and make a significant impact on the future of AI. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are excited about the challenges and rewards of building something groundbreaking from the ground up.

This role is ideal for someone who is excited by the challenge of translating cutting-edge materials science into practical, revolutionary computing hardware. You will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of neuromorphic computing, potentially reshaping the landscape of AI hardware. If you are passionate about innovation, have a knack for solving complex technical problems, and want to make a lasting impact on the future of computing, we encourage you to apply and join us on this exciting journey.
