The Project Manager, Community Development is responsible for supporting the Downtown Reimagined project for the Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) and our stakeholders. This role will support the program and develop partnerships with city, state, public and private stakeholders to achieve a safer, more vibrant and welcoming downtown. This individual will work under the Senior Vice President, Economic Development, and in close partnership with other departments within MAC.  


The ideal candidate will forge and maintain successful relationships with business, government, and community leaders and is able to manage multiple high-priority projects. Must be a mission-driven individual with a servant leader attitude. This position is partially funded through a 36-month grant with, upon successful completion of grant objectives, a possibility for renewal.



Work Program:

  • Support the execution of MAC’s list of recommendations for Downtown Reimagined and coordinate with external partners to make sure ideas are implemented and progress is achieved
  • Drive and track performance of the Downtown Reimagined Initiative effort against goals
  • Help create project updates to key internal and external stakeholders, including with senior-level stakeholders (e.g., mayor’s office, Steering Committee) to ensure their support of the effort
  • Facilitate meetings with project stakeholders, attending some on your own to develop and strengthen relationships, provide updates on our efforts and solicit support and buy-in from partners.


Skills & Expertise Required:

  • Excitement for the Downtown Reimagined Initiative goals and belief in the vision to create a more vibrant downtown for all
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures related to the development and implementation of a comprehensive and coordinated revitalization program across a range of outcomes (e.g., development, transportation, entertainment)
  • Knowledge of the inner workings of City of Atlanta, Fulton County and the State of Georgia, as well as stakeholders like ACVB, GWCC, GSU, CAP/ADID, ARC, private real estate developers and others
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-paced program environment, ideally in governmental or quasi- governmental role. 
  • Experience with strategic thinking and strategic planning / decision making
  • Understanding of real estate (e.g., real property acquisition, lending, development), including relationships with key individuals from the development and brokerage community
  • Sharp verbal and written communication skills as well as creating digital presentations


Previous Experience:

  • 3+ years of prior experience across economic development, urban planning, real estate, strategy, management consulting, project management, transformations and / or senior management functions
