As an IT Data Engineer, you will be instrumental in implementing innovative technologies and methods, driving change, and playing a key role within the IT Department. This cross-functional position reports directly to the Senior Director of IT and is a vital part of the client's business-driven Analytics Center of Excellence Our client is transforming data into valuable insights, and as an IT Data Engineer, you will lead the way in supporting business teams to become data storytellers and creators of actionable insights. You will be the innovator making this transformation possible

This role is crucial in delivering exceptional customer service across all levels and is responsible for designing, building, and implementing data pipelines that support analysts and enterprise-wide reporting. You will manage and maintain cloud-based analytic reporting layer while supporting data extracts and transformations, ensuring jobs run smoothly, staying organized, and prioritizing tasks effectively. Adaptability in a multi-project environment is essential.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Architecture: Build, maintain, and administer analytical cloud architecture.
  • Data Pipeline Performance: Ensure data pipelines and data stores are high-performing, efficient, organized, and reliable.
  • Data Platform Design: Design, implement, monitor, and optimize data platforms to meet organizational needs.
  • Technical Solutions: Assist in designing technical solutions for data gathering, landing, consumption, and analysis across our reporting architecture, including data lakes, Power BI, Synapse, and SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Platform Data Analysis: Perform data analysis to support and enhance information management systems.
  • Technical Communication: Clearly communicate technical details to business and management personnel.
  • ETL/ELT Development: Support the development and execution of ETL/ELT strategies.
  • Project Participation: Engage in the ACoE's project planning process.
  • Data Management: Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements.
  • Technical Support: Address data-related technical issues and assist with infrastructure needs.
  • System Enhancement: Work with the ACoE to enhance the functionality of data systems.
  • Reporting Standards: Support the development of reporting standards.
  • Data Governance: Execute data governance strategies.
  • Collaboration: Partner with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand data and reporting requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions.
  • Team Contribution: Contribute to the team and organization as needed.

Experience:

  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud).
  • Experience with advanced database systems, including warehouses, data marts, and models for business, financial, and operational analysis.
  • Proficiency in data cleansing, manipulation, and anomaly detection.
  • Experience building relational data models.
  • Experience creating and managing ETL pipelines.
  • Proficiency in data analysis.
  • Strong skills in connecting to data sources, data modeling, and creating visuals.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, including writing queries and database design.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#).

Not Required but a Plus:

  • Experience with analytics and data science tools, technologies, and techniques (R, Python, algorithms, Azure ML Studio/Services), custom visualizations in Microsoft Power BI using D3 and jQuery, and Azure infrastructure architecture and design.
  • Experience authoring reports using business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, etc.).
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Power Automate).
  • Familiarity with statistical and mathematical programming or machine learning tools (e.g., Stata, SAS, R, MATLAB, PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
  • Experience in the tree fruit or agricultural industry.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years' experience in Computer Science, IT, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and education.
  • Analytical skills for handling data effectively, efficiently, and with confidentiality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different business functions and influence senior leaders.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement through process enhancement and change.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with other technical professionals.
  • Ability to read, understand, compose, and collaborate on software requirements and training documents.
