Transportation Operations Manager

Transportation Management RoleThis role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. Establish and maintain positive relationships with all front-line employees. Spends the majority of the day in the field with frontline employees.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Ensuring new frontline employees have tools, instruction, and feedback for successful daily dutiesMeeting with new frontline employees daily to ensure consistent communication and support of onboardingProviding timely and consistent touchpoints with frontline employeesRegular review of best practices to enhance daily performanceFocusing on understanding and progress of frontline employee career goalsIdentifying and addressing improvement opportunities and collaborating with frontline employees to ensure continued successActively practicing and seeking feedback on coaching conversationsLeading by example to ensure safety practices are paramount with each employeeTeaching and developing an understanding of the WM WayConducting root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retrainingDocumenting and maintaining records required by regulatory agencies such as the Department of TransportationReviewing and auditing documentation related to route operations daily (e.g., DVIRs, driver time and attendance, open tickets), following up where appropriateVisiting customers and customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues, seeking service alternatives where appropriateQualifications:Associate's Degree or in lieu of a degreeHigh School Diploma (accredited) and two (2) years of relevant work experienceSuccessful completion of the WM Route Manager Trainee programMust be at least 18 years of ageLegally eligible to work in the country where the position is locatedDriver's LicensePhysical requirements include the ability to perform duties in a mix between an office environment and plant/field environment and routinely require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.Benefits at WM include a competitive total compensation package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, Stock Purchase Plan, Company match on 401K, and more Employees also receive Paid Vacation, Holidays, and Personal Days.
