Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate/Senior Research Associate to join our research team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in droplet-based microfluidics and electro-optomechanical platform construction. This role entails designing, preparing, and executing droplet-based microfluidic experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to the advancement of innovative therapeutic engineering and discovery methods. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Assays: Perform ultrahigh throughput cell-based assays using microfluidic technology for screening small molecules and biologics. 
  • Experimental Execution: Design, prepare, and conduct microfluidic screening experiments. Analyze and report findings internally, with occasional external presentations. 
  • Device Innovation: Design, simulate, fabricate, and maintain high-throughput microfluidic devices for droplet-based single-cell antibody screening. 
  • Platform Optimization: Construct and refine the platform and workflows, incorporating automated operational systems for enhanced efficiency.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records in Benchling in accordance with company policies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including computational biologists, engineers, business development, and project managers, to drive research projects forward.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors or Master's degree in Biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 0-5 years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in an industry setting.


Technical Skills:

  • Experience in Droplet-Based Microfluidic Systems: experience in designing, fabricating, and utilizing droplet-based microfluidic systems. 
  • Timely Deliverables: ability to meet project deadlines, including the fabrication of microfluidic chips, CAD designs, and other project requirements. 
  • Detail-Oriented and Organized: Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong communication abilities 
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong capability in analyzing complex data and solving technical challenges. 
  • Desirable Experience
  • High-throughput screening assays
  • Cell biology, cell culture, and experience with culturing mammalian cells in droplets, microcapsules, or hydrogels
  • Electro-optomechanical system and construction
