Seasonal WorkerThe City of Appleton is hiring for seasonal workers in the Parks and Recreation Department. This position is non-benefited and pays $15.47 - $17.52 hourly.Location: Appleton, WIJob Number: 2025-169Opening Date: 10/24/2025Closing Date: 12/31/2025 at 11:59 PM Central Time (US & Canada)Examples of DutiesNature of Work: Seasonal Essential Job FunctionsSupervises participants in the activity area and warming shelter.Maintains a safe playing atmosphere.Opens and closes the facility.Disarms alarm system where applicable.Calculates and collects concession fees from patrons using proper transaction and cash handling policies and procedures; records additional transactions as needed.Prepares food in a safe and clean manner and maintains a high level of cleanliness and safety with food preparation, equipment, and dispensers.Sells and stocks concession products. Serves concessions and maintains concession areas' cleanliness in accordance with Health Department guidelines.Reconciles money at the start and end of shift; completes associated paperwork.Performs start-up and take-down of concession-related equipment.Completes weekly deposits at drop off at the appropriate location.Records accurate attendance numbers, accident reports, concession sales, etc.Administers first aid when necessary.Supervises and trains employees.Performs any other duties as assigned by the Recreation Programmer.Other Job Functions:Maintains good communication with other staff members.Communicates clearly and effectively with patrons.Attends all required staff meetings and trainings.Works closely with the Parks and Recreation Department staff to ensure all department rules and policies are observed.Wears distinctive clothing or other means of identification per the City of Appleton dress code.Maintains a clean, safe environment free of hazards in the concession area, inside the building, and on sledding hills and ice rinks.Reports any concession, cleaning, or repair needs to the Recreation Supervisor.Typical QualificationsMinimum completion of three years of high school.Experience and/or ability in working with money.Ability to make general arithmetic computations accurately and with reasonable speed.Ability to work with varied age groups, including children.Physically capable of performing and demonstrating program-related activities.Able to work the duration of the program as assigned by the supervisor.Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.Ability to enforce City of Appleton policies and procedures.Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per the City of Appleton dress code.Work nights and/or weekends.Work at multiple sites.May be required to work by themselves in certain situations.Supplemental InformationClassification: Facilities Manager I Pay Grade 3Work Location: Reid Golf Course & Jones Park
