Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Safely operates equipment such as trucks with trailers, riding mowers, utility carts, push mowers, string trimmers, etc.
- Lifts objects above shoulder height up to 50 pounds.
- Performs facility maintenance such as cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, scraping, painting and sanding.
- Performs vandalism removal on buildings, play equipment, and other areas.
- Performs grounds maintenance such as trash and litter pickup. Replace trash and recycling can liners. Planting/flower bed maintenance, weeding etc.
- Performs playground surface replacement and upkeep.
- Performs athletic field maintenance and operation of associated equipment. (Line Painters, Infield Groomers, etc.)
- Assists full-time staff with various projects.
- Ability to operate powered riding mowers, push mowers, string trimmers, utility carts, sand pros, pickup trucks hauling trailers.
- Ability to withstand a variety of temperature and weather extremes.
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
- Be able to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Ability to work irregular schedules based on project demand and weather.
- Must provide own steel toed shoes.
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
- Must be at least sixteen years of age.
Supplemental Information
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: May - September
WORK SCHEDULE:
Hours per day: Flexible hours between 5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Occasional weekends and holidays
Days per week: Varied
Hours per week: Up to 40
Pay Grade: 3
This position is a non-benefited position with the City of Appleton.
