Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 6:00pm. 8 hours/day, 5 days/week

Location: Amherst, must be able to travel to all locations (Orchard Park, Williamsville)

Position Summary:
Serves as a dedicated and flexible Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to float across all Dent clinics on an as-needed basis. This role is responsible for providing essential nursing support and ensuring high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse clinical environments.

Responsibilities
  • Complies with quality assurance, HIPAA, customer focus, infection control and safety regulations per the facility policy procedures and NYS regulations
  • Support patient care with an emphasis on patient response; maintains liaison with physicians and practice administration to ensure efficient and effective patient care services.
  • Must be able to determine urgency of message and/or phone call on an urgent/non-urgent basis.
  • If patient chart/EMR is pulled; all information should be confirmed i.e.; name, DOB, address, phone, insurance, etc.
  • If patient is requesting prescription, chart/EMR information must be checked to confirm accuracy and legitimacy of request. Please note drug allergies, contact number and pharmacy information.
  • Once information is received the appropriate phone calls should be made to pharmacy, etc. in the order deemed most crucial.
  • Accurate documentation in Chart/EMR after each patient is seen and/or assisted is crucial to the patients continued follow-up.
  • Prepare e-prescriptions for provider's evaluation and completion/transmittal.
  • Assists in completion of insurance/compensation/disability/prior authorization forms.
  • Coordinates scheduling with medical secretary. Represents the Dent by displaying a respectful and caring manner with patients and their families. Independently problem solves and utilizes resources to solve complicated matters. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition; set up, clean and disinfect examination rooms; monitor and ensure appropriate inventory of medical supplies in examination rooms; replenish as required
  • Confers with the patient to obtain accurate information for records, explains procedures;' ensure completion of chart information prior to examination by provider.
  • Coordinates and participates in a variety of patient care activities in the examination and treatment of patients to include: rooming patients, vital signs, blood draws (if qualified), medication administration, mini-mental assessments, assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, using standard equipment; records data for medical records as directed by the provider.
  • Contributes to patient care through patient and family education, distributing recourse literature and community service recommendations and referrals as needed,
  • Interacts calmly, respectfully and in a friendly manner with other representatives of services at the Dent. Refers patients to proper resources for Dent policies such as billing and or financial support. Assists in clerical duties as needed, functioning as a member of the health care team
  • May be required to escort and/or transport patients to the examination room and other clinic locations, if necessary
  • May be required to assist with bio-hazard cleanup (i.e. restroom, waiting area, exam room following universal precautions/kits)
  • Maintains competence through continuing education and in-service training.
  • May assist with other clinical projects at times when LPN coverage demands are lower
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications
  • Successful completion of an LPN program from an accredited college or technical school
  • Active NYS Practical Nurse License free and clear of restrictions

Working Conditions
  • Minimal physical effort while rooming patients, frequent walking.
  • Potentially prolonged periods of standing.
  • May include assistance to the disabled patient in transfers to and from wheelchairs.
  • Regular fine hand manipulation
  • Associated health risks related to patient exposure including body fluids
  • Sometimes bending, squatting, reach above shoulder level, crouching, kneeling, and pushing/pulling. Requires some lifting, usually not in excess of 10 pounds.

Travel

  • Frequent travel between Dent Neurologic Institute sites required

Compensation:
  • Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range
  • Rates are commensurate with experience
