Job Purpose:

Deliver a high-quality contract risk management (“CRM”) service through risk identification and evaluation, advice on risk mitigation through recommended contract changes, and trusted advice within the Insurance & Risk Management (“IRM”) product portfolio. Collaboratively manage the commercial interface between the business stakeholders and (IRM) staff.


Serve as a key active member of IRM’s North American team, interacting with colleagues to ensure business objectives are met and that the organization is performing to “best in class” standards.



Your Tasks:

  • Conducts reviews of global Master Service Agreements in conjunction with line manager, bespoke/non-standard customer contracts and non-standard scopes of services providing advice on the optimal commercial position on insurable risk while having regard for technical and commercial risk versus reward criteria.
  • Supports line manager with strategic advice for deal engagement review committees on optimal CRM, business processes and new and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives to help drive improvements to the CRM service in North America for the benefit of business units in North America.
  • Interface with Business Development, Account Management, and other stakeholders, including Global & Regional IRM stakeholders, Legal, Commercial Contract Management, Security, Finance, etc., on contracts and arrangements to deliver holistic risk guidance.
  • Develop good working knowledge of business unit operating models including sector strategies, and to identify and evaluate the risk challenges arising therefrom.
  • Manage contract risk enquires, identifying high complex, time critical, and standard contracts, and prioritize accordingly. Conduct reviews aimed at ensuring that risks associated with customer agreements are identified and propose changes where necessary to contractual liability, indemnity, and other provisions. Ensure identified risks are communicated swiftly and clearly to business unit stakeholders together with alternative solutions.
  • Execute CRM process by supporting the business divisions with risk exposure reviews for new and renewing contracts. Review risk exposures and provide formal written advice to commercial teams to separate business risks from insurable risks. Provide ongoing support to commercial teams to help support their business objectives.
  • Under the direction and guidance of line manager, deliver and implement CRM strategies in North America to enhance service line presence and internal customer experience.
  • Participate in deal engagement review committees and similar decision-making bodies covering CRM issues, where required.
  • Collaborate with regional or global claims functions in connection with bespoke customer contracts, as necessary.



Your Profile:

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in business administration, finance, economics, logistics, science, engineering, or mathematics. Advanced degree preferred, e.g., MS, MBA, or JD.
  • Seven to ten years of experience and knowledge of supply chain logistics and freight forwarding business models including airfreight, ocean freight, ground transportation, warehouse distribution, service logistics, and related value-added services.
  • Deep understanding of contract terms and conditions typically included in transportation, forwarding and supply chain agreements.
  • Anticipate and articulate the impact of risk given deviations from standard T’s and C’s and / or risk bearing clauses in contracts and/or arising from non-standard logistics activities.
  • Experience presenting professional advice and recommendations to decision makers (e.g., vice presidents, presidents, CFOs or CEOs) preferred.
  • Proven record of consistent and concise management reporting on risk issues to a non-technical transport and logistics audience.
