Kleinfelder is seeking a Materials Testing and Inspection Business Development Leader


Kleinfelder is seeking an externally focused Materials Testing and Inspection Business Development Leader to help drive growth throughout the Puget Sound Region. In this position, you will be responsible for leading business development activities for our Construction Materials Engineering and Testing service line across multiple markets, meeting with clients and teaming partners, participating in professional external organizations, identifying new opportunities, planning and positioning, preparing qualification packages, and working with leadership on delivering sales targets. In a nutshell, you will be the face of Kleinfelder to our clients and you will work alongside some of the best materials professionals in the business.

Abilities of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Outgoing personality and outward focused.
  • Excellent grasp of marketing fundamentals, experience with client communications, and knowledge of theoretical and practical developments in the ICC and WABO special inspection standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute sales strategies and “win themes”.
  • Strong grammar, writing, and editing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to proactively manage multiple assignments under set deadlines.
  • Have a "client service" mindset and work in close partnership with technical professionals (engineers, scientists, and construction professionals).

  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities, deadlines, and direction in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize and execute sales activities consistent with Kleinfelder’s annual sales plan.
  • Ensure Kleinfelder exceeds client expectations through frequent communication with targeted clients and Kleinfelder’s Construction Materials Engineering and Testing delivery teams.
  • Identify project opportunities for new work and/or expanded services for new and established clients.
  • Develops and maintains client relationships to identify new opportunities in additional service lines or expanded geographies.
  • Coordinate with Kleinfelder’s Construction Materials Engineering and Testing delivery and proposal marketing teams with clear and succinct communication as to the client requirements and differentiation strategy.
  • Develops proposal strategies that utilize the Company’s strengths and innovative thinking to gain a competitive advantage.


Position Competencies and Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Experience with CRM is highly desirable; Deltek preferred.

Experience & Academic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management desired.
  • WABO Certifications desired.
  • Experience: 15+ years of related comet experience, including 5+ years of professional marketing and/or sales experience, and 3+ years of management experience required with a consulting engineering firm or related business.
