About the Role We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack to join our dynamic team. The team's mission is to expand inbound referral integrations with hospital systems, health plans, ecosystem partners to support new growth initiatives. As a Staff Software Engineer - Fullstack, you'll play a pivotal role in building scalable, high-impact solutions that will deliver life-changing treatments to millions. Fullstack engineers contribute to their team's success by building and extending secure, scalable services and exposing clear, well-tested APIs that power beautiful client applications.

They also add seamless and practical features to Hinge Health applications. Fullstack engineers design and implement end-to-end solutions, profile their systems to stay out ahead of scaling bottlenecks, and help maintain a high bar with thoughtful and constructive code reviews. Staff software engineers collaborate with teammates to tackle the hardest features in a sprint and deliver foundational architecture improvements in small, safe patches. The ideal candidate thrives in a highly collaborative, cross functional environment.

We enjoy a continuous deployment DevOps culture, and take owner-operator pride in supporting our code in production. Our production systems rely on React Native, React JS, Node.js, TypeScript, NestJS, GraphQL, Docker, Rails, AWS, Postgres, Redis, Apollo, and Redux. Our workflow is trunk-based CI/CD, and our security/compliance posture is at the highest standards of healthcare, including HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, and CCPA. What You'll Accomplish Design, build, and maintain scalable, event-driven systems using Python, TypeScript, Apache Kafka, Postgres, DynamoDB, and AWS.

Take ownership in leading architectural discussions, proactively identifying challenges and proposing innovative solutions to complex engineering problems. Develop clean, maintainable backend services and APIs, with a focus on performance and scalability. Ensure system observability using tools like Datadog and Sentry for monitoring, logging, and error tracking. Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, senior engineers, and engineering leaders.

Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Champion best practices in software development, architecture, security, and system observability. Leverage AI tools to drive team-level efficiency, enhance code quality, and stay current with emerging trends in software engineering and system design. Hinge Health Hybrid Model We believe that remote work and in-person work have their own advantages and disadvantages, and we want to be able to leverage the best of both worlds.

Employees in hybrid roles are required to be in the office 3 days/week. The San Francisco office has a dog-friendly workplace program. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical degree 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of building scalable microservices 4+ years of experience building event driven systems 4+ years of experience of AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS) and cloud architecture Experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue.js, or Angular) Hands-on experience with generative AI tools to accelerate development workflows, improve code quality, and streamline debugging Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience in TypeScript, Nestjs, GraphQL, Node.js, relational and non relational databases, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Redis Experience with mobile development (React Native) Experience with observability tools such as Datadog (performance monitoring) and Sentry (error tracking) Strong understanding of system design principles, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines Compensation This position will have an annual salary, plus equity and benefits. Please note the annual salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.

The annual salary range for this position is $192,000 - $288,000.
