Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Early Childhood Center Director, the Clerical Office Staff will ensure the front desk at the Early Childhood Development Center is organized, student records are maintained and updated, and phones are answered in a timely manner. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Essential Functions:
  1. Manage and organize the front office.
  2. Monitor and track food service paperwork.
  3. Answer phones and greet families.
  4. Provide ECDC parents with printouts/statements when requested.
  5. Track student attendance and records
  6. Maintain a professional, respectful, and positive attitude toward employees, members, and participants.
  7. Exemplify the core mission values of the YMCA while performing all duties.
  8. Complete required YMCA pieces of training according to Edwardsville YMCA employee policy.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Minimum High School Diploma/GED plus 2 years of college or equivalent experience.
  2. Thorough understanding of office procedures and experience in billing, general office work, filing, and preparation of reports.
  3. Strong writing, communication, and computer skills
  4. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products and comfortable learning new computer programs.
  5. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications and training.
  6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all community social and economic segments.
  7. Ability to handle confidential materials appropriately
  8. First Aid and CPR certifications or obtain upon hire
  9. Favorable criminal background check.
