Hi, I'm Alexis, looking for a Summer 2025 Metallurgy Intern.

Who Am I?

I am interested in developing, processing, and testing different materials to create a wide range of products. I enjoy having new challenges each day and mentoring the next generation of metallurgists.

What Do We Do?

Business Unit: Product Metallurgy

We make metal forge bar and billet products to meet the needs of customers in several different industries including energy and aerospace.

Your Role as an Intern

You will be a part of a dynamic team, supporting the following tasks:

• Drive continuous improvement of a problematic product through data analysis and process changes.

What Do We Require?

You must be:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Candidates should be proficient in excel and have the ability to work with data
• Ideal candidates will possess the following characteristics: self-motivated; looking for a challenge and willing to learn new things
• Willing and able to work on-site at our Reading, PA location.
• Applicants MUST be US Citizens or Green Card Holders due to Carpenter's government contracts.

Pay Range

Hourly rates are based on: 1 - Program of study; 2 - Degree type (i.e., Bachelor's); 3 - Progression in degree (i.e., 1st year, 2nd year, etc.). The range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Commuting/Housing Assistance (If Eligible)

Interns who must commute to work from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $2,400 (less applicable taxes) as excessive commute allowance. Interns who choose to temporarily relocate from outside the immediate Reading, PA area (moving over 50 miles one-way), will be paid a one-time lump sum payment of $4,800 (less applicable taxes) as a housing allowance. If applicable, this payment would be made during the first payroll cycle, which would be three or four weeks following the internship start date.
