Job Description:

The Voice Technician installs and maintains the Voice Systems. This individual will support and maintain a multi-platform voice telephony system, ensuring its efficiency and security. The role will troubleshoot problems reported by users and/or by automated monitoring systems, provide assistance related to installations. This position will also perform moves, adds and changes, based on customer requests. This position will program, install, move, modify voice and related equipment according to job order specifications, company standards and procedures. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions such as dial tone trouble, inoperable phones, voicemail. Will need to be on the on-call rotation.

Must-Haves:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 Years of Job-Specific Experience: Demonstrated experience in voice systems installation and maintenance.
  • 5 Years of Telecommunications Installation/Maintenance Experience: A solid background in telecommunications, particularly in installation and maintenance roles.
  • Background in LAN/WAN Technologies: Proficiency in TCP/IP, QoS, PoE, VLANs, and VoIP technologies.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems: Familiarity with these operating systems, particularly for troubleshooting and maintenance purposes.
  • Ability to Troubleshoot Network VOIP Issues: Skills in diagnosing and resolving VOIP-related problems.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Both verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with end users and team members.
  • Availability for On-Call Rotation: Willingness and ability to be on-call for troubleshooting and urgent support as needed.
  • Flexibility to Work Occasional Nights and Weekends: The role may require working outside of regular business hours.


Minimum Education/Experience:

• High school diploma

• Associate’s degree preferred

• 3 years job specific experience required

• 5 years experience in telecommunications installation/maintenance required

• Background in LAN/WAN technologies. TCP/IP/QoS, PoE, VLANs, VoIP.

• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems

• Ability to troubleshoot network VOIP related issues

• Excellent communication skills both verbal and writing

• Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends as needed


Accountabilities:

• Provides technical and troubleshooting assistance to USC Health end users, as required

• Perform the repair, maintenance of voice and voice over IP equipment for USC Health.

• Communicate and escalate systems service issues to management in order to resolve quickly and efficiently

• Adhere to USC Health IT’s processes and practices

• Assists in maintaining records or parts inventory for spare equipment

• Trains users on voice systems operation and provides technical resource support, as needed.

• Recommends changes to improve systems configurations and determines hardware and software requirements, related to those changes.

• Attends vendor training workshops to gain proficiency in voice equipment servicing and stays informed of new

• developments and technologies

• Ability to perform on-call duties.
