With 1.5M hours of runtime and 8 GWh of energy storage systems managed with HybridOS, FlexGen provides field-tested software and services solutions that are trusted by the most technically and commercially demanding developers, utilities, government agencies, and industrial companies in the world.FlexGen is seeking a strategic and process-driven Director of Proposal & Commercial Operations who is a cross-functional leader responsible for driving the end-to-end proposal lifecycle and ensuring seamless alignment between Business Development, Legal, Finance, and Execution teams. This role ensures that all client-facing proposals are strategically positioned, commercially sound, and operationally executable while driving a smooth effective and efficient process. The Director will oversee proposal development, pricing coordination, risk mitigation, and post-award contract transition, serving as the commercial engine room behind high-quality deal execution.Major Job ResponsibilitiesLead the development and submission of compliant, compelling, and timely client proposals and RFP responses across all business linesServe as the single point of coordination across technical, legal, and business stakeholders to ensure proposal alignment with strategic goals and client expectationsImplement and maintain proposal development processes, tools, templates, and governance frameworks to drive efficiency and qualityCommercial Operations & Risk AlignmentCollaborate with Finance and Legal to structure proposals that meet margin, cash flow, risk, and compliance thresholdsLead internal commercial reviews of terms and pricing; ensure consistency with business objectives and contractual standardsIdentify and escalate commercial risks; recommend mitigation strategies prior to submission or contract executionPost-Proposal TransitionOversee the handoff of awarded contracts to execution teams, ensuring alignment on scope, deliverables, and contract obligationsDevelop and manage a structured post-award transition process to ensure execution readiness and contract complianceTeam Leadership & Process OptimizationManage and mentor a team of proposal managers, writers, and coordinators (as applicable)Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the proposal and commercial operations lifecycleOwn reporting and analytics related to proposal activity, pipeline status, and conversion metricsServe as a neutral, trusted point of coordination between Business Development, Operations, Legal, and Financeensuring balance, fairness, and clarity in decision-making and executionGrow and ensure a level of high-performing contract professionals; foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and continuous improvementChampion the use of CRM tools and integrated systems (e.g., Salesforce, ProCore, Evisort) to automate and optimize the contracting functionPropose and implement all processes and tools to optimize Contract OperationsPosition Requirements:Bachelor's degree required; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred10+ years of experience in proposals, commercial operations, deal desk, or business development functionProven success leading complex, multi-disciplinary proposal efforts in a B2B, government contracting, energy, or infrastructure environmentStrong working knowledge of contract negotiation, pricing strategies, and risk analysisExceptional project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skillsProficient in CRM and proposal management tools (e.g., Salesforce, SharePoint, etc.)Key Competencies:Strategic Thinking & Business AcumenCross-Functional LeadershipAttention to Detail & Execution ExcellenceCommercial NegotiationRisk Identification & MitigationCommunication & InfluencePreferred Experience:Familiarity with EPC, software-as-a-service (SaaS), or energy project delivery modelsExperience with joint ventures, team agreements, or consortium biddingKnowledge of compliance standards (e.g., FAR/DFARS, ITAR, or other regulatory frameworks) if applicableFlexGen provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
