Position Overview: The Field Technician is a critical role responsible for maintaining the integrity and functionality of HPE’s hardware and software infrastructure. This includes servers, networks, and security systems within our client’s data centers. The technician will utilize advanced systems analysis techniques and procedures to resolve complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue Resolution: Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve IT infrastructure issues, including HPE Enterprise systems, servers, storage, and networking.
  • Data Center Operations: Understand and operate within a Data Center IT Operations environment, using software tools for daily functions and troubleshooting.
  • Installation Support: Provide installation, break/fix support, component replacement, hardware troubleshooting, and operating system installation.
  • Operational Management: Manage operational tasks, resolve escalations, and clear blocking issues to ensure continuous delivery of data center support activities.

Requirements:

  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of storage theory, server layout, and network concepts.
  • Mechanical Skills: Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform component-level repairs following ESD best practices.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with various computer applications and the ability to navigate software tools.
  • Communication: Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organization: Ability to document daily activities and maintain a successful working relationship with management and peers.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work outside standard business hours, weekends, and travel for out-of-state projects.

Education & Experience:

  • Experience: 3 – 5 years of technical experience; an Associate’s Degree or equivalent in computer science or a related field is preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and operate manual and power hand tools.
  • Desirable Skills: Experience with pallet jacks, data center server lifting tools, Linux, Virtualization, and Windows Server.

Additional Information:

  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel between customer sites as necessary.
  • Reimbursement: Mileage, tolls, and parking will be reimbursed at Federal rates (excluding fines or violations).
  • Overtime: Availability to work overtime during installation or rack/stack events.
