Kryptos Biotechnologies is an early-stage, mission-driven biotechnology startup working to develop groundbreaking, innovative systems. In the precision medicine area, we’re developing a single-cell Multiomics systems for the cancer monitoring and therapy choice. In the infectious disease diagnostics, our aim is to develop a sample-to-answer molecular diagnostics system for point-of-care testing that will enable medical personnel to make key decisions more effectively and rapidly than ever. About the Position:

We are looking for a Research Associate with expertise in Molecular and Cellular Biology to assist the development of technologies for clinical research and molecular diagnostics systems. Reporting to our Director of Biology, this is a hands-on, bench level position with key responsibilities in the area of real-time PCR assays, and a unique opportunity to be part of a small, growing company working on projects that are particularly important in the current global environment. Flexibility is important in adjusting to changes in work volume and focus in a fast-paced, early stage company environment.


General Responsibilities:

  • Perform, validate and optimize the multiplex PCR assay for real-time PCR instrument and consumables
  • Evaluate and validate a company’s real-time PCR assay, instrument and consumables
  • Perform DNA/RNA extraction, cell culture in BSL1 or 2 environments 
  • Evaluate, test and develop new PCR assay, procedures and/or methods
  • Collect and analyze data with good laboratory practices
  • Maintain quality control notebook, records, and documentation
  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment and ensure that all reagents and supplies meet quality control standards
  • Perform Incoming reagent inspection
  • Participate in the team meetings and prepare weekly progress reports


Qualifications: 

  • B.S. or M.S. in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or bio-engineering-related discipline
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience (or equivalent) with nucleic acid extraction/purification, and primer/probe designs for multiplex real-time PCR/RT-PCR
  • Plus for experiences in dealing with lyophilization and/or lyophilized reagent
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills
  • Ability to work and think independently with limited supervision
  • Collaborative, resourceful, team-player attitude
  • Attention to detail
