Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Boise, ID. This contract-to-hire position is ideal for a motivated individual with a passion for mechanical engineering in the facilities sector. As a Facilities Mechanical Engineering Group Manager, you will be instrumental in supporting our clients' manufacturing processes by designing and overseeing complex mechanical systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with client owners in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents for complex manufacturing tools and facilities infrastructure mechanical systems.
  • Design and oversee piping and ducting for equipment heating, cooling, exhaust, and process chemicals and gasses in industrial facilities.
  • Retrofit existing building systems to accommodate tool installation, including engineering calculations, equipment and component sizing, selection, and specification.
  • Support construction and integration into the factory.
  • Manage staff hiring, recruitment, development, and retention, including interviews, onboarding, salary negotiations, performance evaluations, training, and conflict resolution.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and expectations for the team.
  • Review and approve weekly timesheets.
  • Work with multi-discipline design teams, including other Jacobs design staff, client equipment owners, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Provide technical training, quality check designs, and assist with complex portions of the design process.
  • May have PE stamping responsibility for designs.
  • Interact with clients and contractors to assist with construction on site.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Twelve (12) or more years of practical application of mechanical facilities engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience leading engineering design teams and personnel development.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Idaho or ability to obtain within 3 months (active NCEES record).


  • Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess:
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working with complex semiconductor manufacturing tools in cleanrooms.
  • Proficient working knowledge of AutoCAD and Navisworks software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Forward-thinking, eager to learn best practices and contribute innovative ideas.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and drive to broaden knowledge base.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-discipline design teams.
  • Passion for buildings and construction.
  • Two (2) years of field experience.


  • Other Requirements:
  • This is a hybrid position requiring work to be performed both from home and on the client site in Boise, ID.
  • Candidate must be within commuting distance and willing to commute to site and/or office as necessary. Client will not reimburse travel expenses for this position. Relocation assistance may be provided.
  • Position may require visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction. Applicant must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Applicant must complete a background check and drug screen and be fully authorized to work for any client in the United States. Client will not sponsor or continue a visa for this position.
