This is an onsite position in Norwood, MA. As an Airborne Systems Test Engineer, you'll be instrumental in validating state-of-the-art Engine Monitoring Systems. We're looking for a proactive team player with exceptional communication skills and a background in systems verification & validation.


The ideal candidate will have a background in test equipment development and automation, with programming proficiency using high-level languages like Python, C, and/or C++. This role involves leading and architecting test equipment systems, used in the development, qualification, and production of aerospace components and systems. The successful candidate will analyze requirements to produce relevant tests, ensuring the robustness and reliability of embedded systems.


Key Responsibilities


Requirements Analysis

  • Analyze Systems and Configuration requirements to design test equipment systems for targeted aircraft applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system functionalities and testing requirements.


Test System Architecture and Design

  • Analyze the existing software verification bench and explore different design alternatives and make recommendations.
  • Create a conceptual design and architect the design, development, and implementation of the test system
  • Write requirements for implementing the test system
  • Define and configure the hardware and software components for the test system
  • Ensure the test system meets the requirements to validate all defined aircraft applications.


Test System Development

  • Direct the design and development of test equipment systems, encompassing both hardware and software components
  • Direct the design, development, and implementation of automated test scripts using Python.
  • Lead other team members in design and development of test system.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, and test environments.
  • Develop and execute system validation plans to ensure compliance with specified systems requirements.


System Validation

  • Write test scenarios to validate the system for each aircraft application.
  • Perform functional, integration, and regression testing.
  • Develop and maintain tools for test automation and continuous integration.
  • Identify, document, and track defects and inconsistencies.


Reports and Documentation

  • Document test procedures, results, and analysis reports.
  • Communicate test progress, issues, and results to stakeholders.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements to engineering team based on test findings.


Qualifications


Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.


Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in designing test equipment systems preferably in an aerospace environment
  • Experience in developing test scripts using a high-level language like C, C++ or Python.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools.
  • Previous experience leading the development of a system validation bench is highly desirable.


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and the development lifecycle
  • Proficiency in hardware design and system integration, with expertise in relevant tools and technologies
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++ or other scripting languages
  • Experience with requirements management systems (e.g. DOORS)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to direct additional resources to complete tasks.


Additional Skills

  • Knowledge of ARINC 429, ARINC 717, UART, CAN and Ethernet Interfaces.
  • Hardware-In-the-Loop Testing.
  • Experience with configuration and change management tools (e.g GIT, JIRA)
