Puget Sound Educational Service District seeks an Assistant Fiscal Officer to provide support and technical assistance to the school districts and the public in the Puget Sound Educational Service District region to ensure state reporting data is accurately recorded within timelines that are followed according to Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction regulations, to disseminate information regarding state reporting regulations and technical information to the public regarding changing school district boundaries. Purpose Statement The job of Assistant Fiscal Officer is done for the purpose/s of providing support and technical assistance to the PSESD's school districts and the public; ensuring that state report data is accurately recorded and timelines are followed according to SPI regulations; disseminating information to districts regarding state reporting; and providing technical information to the public regarding changing school district boundaries. This job reports to Executive Director, School Finance. Essential Functions Analyzes ESD and school district data from a wide variety of sources (e.g., budget, financial, enrollment, personnel, etc.) for the purpose of identifying issues and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and various policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components prior to submitting to OSPI. Collaborates with others (e.g., ESD personnel, school district personnel, OSPI, counties, community organizations, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining state required services. Compiles statistical and financial data for the purpose of providing school district reporting; developing budget recommendations; providing financial summaries to school district leadership, and/or ensuring compliance with established regulations. Coordinates assigned program responsibilities for the purpose of achieving outcomes in relation to organizational objectives, and ensuring conformance with legal, financial and ESD requirements. Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization for the purpose of meeting the Agencys End: Success for Each Child and Eliminating the Opportunity Gap by Leading with Racial Equity. Facilitates and coordinates a variety of meetings and workshops for the purpose of conveying and gathering information related to state reporting requirements and maintaining professional development. Maintains a variety of statistical information relative to districts for the purpose of providing up to date reference material in compliance with PSESD, state and federal regulations. Manages regional committee activity and provides technical information to the public and school districts regarding school district boundaries for the purpose of evaluating situations, identifying appropriate actions, and/or developing recommendations. Provides internal control and compliance duties, and custodial responsibility for checking account for the purpose of supporting and maintaining business operations in compliance with legal, financial, and ESD requirements. Provides comprehensive support to the Superintendent's office as required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment. Researches a variety of information for the purpose of identifying the relevant issues, interpreting or disseminating information, recommending and/or implementing a plan of action to efficiently resolve the concern. Responds to a wide variety of inquiries from ESD and school district personnel, general public, school districts, and other professional organizations (e.g., RCW, WAC, accounting guidelines, reporting guidelines, etc.) for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information, and/or referring to appropriate personnel. Minimum Requirements AA/AAS/Vocational Degree in a job-related field, or a High School diploma/GED and progressively responsible job-related work experience. Work-related accounting, budget, and/or finance experience. Spreadsheet and database management experience, including data entry, manipulation, analysis and/or report creation. Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to using a racial equity lens. Experience working with diverse groups toward common goals. Washington Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) Certification. Experience with WSIPC, OSPI. Ability to work as an active team member and independently.
