Product Development Engineer

Andrews & Cole has partnered with an industry leading manufacturing client seeking to add additional direct hire talent to their Product Development Team.

The Product Development Engineer will be part of a high-performing team responsible for the design and development of fiber optic connectivity and apparatus products and technologies. A successful candidate should have a proven track record of product development from concept generation through product industrialization, demonstrating strong product design and project management skills.


Responsibilities

  • Lead new product development projects from Concept through Design, Development, Testing and Industrialization while following a formal stage-gate process
  • Design and develop new OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) fiber optic connectivity, management and splicing apparatus products utilizing advanced 3D modeling and analysis software (SolidWorks, Finite Element Analysis, Mold Flow, etc.)
  • Interface with Product Line Managers, Applications Engineers, Market Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, Designers during all phases of product development and to support existing products


Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Parametric Solid Modeling Experience (Pro/E CREO, SolidWorks, NX)
  • 3-5 years of technical experience conducting Product Development
  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience
  • Design experience with multiple manufacturing techniques (injection molding, sheet metal forming, machining, etc.)


Preferred Skills

  • Fiber Optic industry experience, especially design, development, and/or applications
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions/designs (Patents, Intellectual Property)
  • 3-5 years of technical experience conducting Product Development
  • 3-5 years Project Management Experience
