Platform Engineer


Holmdel NJ- hybrid working from home role with 2 days per week office based.

$135-165K plus excellent benefits package including pre-IPO stock options.

To be successful in this role:

You will be a confident Platform Engineer with solid Linux (Red Hat and SUSE) experience working in a development environment. Other requirements for this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering
  • Knowledge of Linux including:
  • Shell commands
  • Shell scripts
  • Software installation
  • Software upgrades
  • Hands on experience with Linux distribution including:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • SUSE
  • Knowledge of the CVE process
  • Ability to program in the C-Language
  • Require minimal supervision
  • Enjoy working in a challenging and collaborative team environment

Job role and responsibilities:

As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for handling all operating system level issues and open source packages including:

  • Producing install and upgrade scripts
  • Producing the Software Bill of Material (SBOM)
  • Evaluating Common Vulnerability Exposures (CVEs)
  • Analyzing results of the Software Composition Analysis output to identify security risks
  • Applying security patches to open source packages
  • Working with the Support team to install upgrades for customers
  • Creating automated processes for producing AWS AMI and Azure VHDx images
  • Implementing and running malware detection software
  • Taking part in portability efforts as application adapts to new platforms, new OS versions, or new versions of common APIs
