Traveling Superintendent Retail ConstructionOur client is a Top 100 ENR-ranked General Contractor with a strong reputation across the U.S. in the light industrial and commercial sectors. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to lead ground-up retail construction projects nationwide. This role provides the opportunity to work with a top-ranked GC on high-profile retail builds, while leveraging the firm's reputation, resources, and commitment to excellence in the field.Oversee day-to-day jobsite operations for ground-up retail construction projects nationwide.Manage all phases of construction, including site work, structural, MEP systems, interior buildout, and finishes.Maintain and update project schedules, ensuring milestones and critical path activities are achieved.Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.Enforce safety programs and OSHA standards, conducting regular site inspections and safety meetings.Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and contract requirements.Collaborate with Project Managers, Owners, Architects, and Engineers to resolve field issues and maintain project progress.Conduct daily reports, progress photos, and project documentation using construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, or similar).Lead site meetings, communicate project expectations, and proactively address potential delays or challenges.Manage project closeout activities, including punch lists, inspections, and turnover to the client.5+ years of superintendent or field leadership experience within commercial construction.Proven success delivering ground-up retail projects (big-box, strip centers, freestanding retail, etc.).Strong knowledge of site development, foundations, structural systems, and MEP coordination.Experience with retail-specific requirements such as vendor coordination, branding, and accelerated schedules.Ability to read, interpret, and enforce plans, specifications, and contract documents.Skilled in developing and maintaining construction schedules (MS Project, Primavera, or similar).Committed to jobsite safety, OSHA compliance, and company safety programs.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, or similar) and daily reporting tools.Flexibility to travel nationwide and manage projects in various locations with minimal supervision.Competitive base salary and performance-based incentives.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) retirement plan with company match.Paid time off and company-recognized holidays.Travel per diem and company-paid lodging.Career growth opportunities with a leading national GC.
