Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the General Counsel in developing and implementing legal strategies that support the company’s business objectives.
  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and contract management.
  • Offer guidance on complex legal issues and risk management, ensuring alignment with company policies and legal standards.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of legal professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the performance and development of legal staff, including setting objectives, providing feedback, and facilitating professional growth.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations relevant to the company’s operations.
  • Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including implementing best practices and preventive measures.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate complex contracts and agreements, ensuring they align with company interests and legal standards.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates and policies to streamline the contract review process.
  • Support the General Counsel in managing corporate governance matters, including board of directors’ activities, shareholder relations, and corporate filings.
  • Ensure accurate and timely legal documentation and reporting.
  • Oversee the management of litigation and disputes, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies for effective resolution of legal disputes.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in Illinois.
  • 10+ years of experience in a legal role, with a significant portion in a senior position or managing complex legal matters.
  • Proven track record of leading legal teams and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract law, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Experience in the food & beverage space is preferred, but not required.
