As a backend software engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the backend services and infrastructure that powers our innovative geospatial database and Wherobots Cloud environment.We are 100% cloud-native, and build our product using modern and reliable tools and technologies. Apply now and join the Wherobots teamResponsibilitiesDesign and implement scalable and efficient backend systems to support our geospatial cloud database and control planeCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, identify technical solutions, and deliver high-quality softwareOptimize performance and reliability of the backend infrastructure through observability, continuous monitoring, troubleshooting, and improvementConduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code quality and adherence to best practicesStay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in backend technologies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processesQualificationsStrong technical background, including 5+ years of experience in backend software development, with a focus on building scalable, reliable, and easy to operate cloud-deployed servicesProficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, and/or GoSolid understanding of distributed systems, data structures, and algorithmsExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google CloudStrong communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively in a hybrid or distributed team environmentCompensation and benefitsWherobots offers competitive compensation, equity, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is $150k-$275k per year.Although we aim to establish a primary engineering presence in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Seattle, we provide flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles.
