Come join our growing team as we set to expand in Houston for 2025. We are looking for a dynamic and well-rounded professional to amplify our business development efforts and help establish a new hub for Avatar in the Houston area after 4 successful years in Canada.  

 

The VP of US Business Development is a strategic and high-impact role that drives business growth in the United States by identifying new opportunities, building and maintaining strong relationships with sponsors and alumni, and executing on plans to expand our presence in the US CarbonTech sector. This will be a 6-month term opportunity with unlimited financial upside, with the expectation to convert to a full-time role following the successful buildout of Avatar’s US presence.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business sponsors and opportunities in the US market for The Avatar Program;
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with existing contacts, sponsors, investors, alumni and volunteers;
  • Collaborate with internal team to develop innovative solutions to create new sponsorship opportunities;
  • Become intimately knowledgeable of the Avatar Program and its multiple value propositions to the corporate sector;
  • Stay current with industry trends and market conditions.


Qualifications/Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, finance, or engineering;
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, sales or related field in the energy sector;
  • Strong understanding and involvement with the corporate energy industry;
  • Experience in an academic environment and/or government relations would be an asset;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Compensation

Base annualized compensation of $100K per year, with a 10% commission on all new partners signed in calendar 2024 for the 2025 Avatar Program.  Lower rate to be agreed to in advance for pre-existing relationships with Avatar which have yet to sign on with us.
